Salvador Dali is everybody's favorite surrealist. Take a glance at his nightmare-ish, dream-like world at the latest LACMA exhibit showcasing. Sure we all know him for painting those melting clocks but did you know he was a Hollywood hipster? His mad skills can be seen in the Alfred Hitchcock film Spellbound, which he created backdrops for, and he even took a stab at drawing cartoons for a Disney movie based on his eccentric imagination. You can view this unusual and abstract fairytale in one of the many rooms displaying his wide array of work. Although most of his paintings are on a much smaller scale, his contribution to the big screen is truly "high art". What was he on? And where can I get some? Evel Knievel, the red-white-and-blue-spangled motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over crazy obstacles including Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho’s Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69. Knievel’s death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs. Knievel had undergone a liver transplant in 1999 after nearly dying of hepatitis C, likely contracted through a blood transfusion after one of his bone-shattering spills. He also suffered two strokes in recent years.
ZAC EFRON IS RICH, AND LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK!
After months of holding out for approval of a final script, Disney star Zac Efron has signed on to reprise his tween heartthrob role as Troy Bolton in High School Musical 3 for a cool $3 million, reports Entertainment Weekly. Neither Efron nor Disney has commented on the salary.
Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Zac all reportedly sought pay increases for HSM3, which will hit the big screen. Director Kenny Ortega has said the film will focus on the Wildcat's senior year revolving around prom. Vanessa, Ashley, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and Lucas Grabeel have all confirmed their return. Cameras start rolling on HSM3 in March.
Singer Ashley Tisdale performs "live" on stage at the 75th Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 28 2007 in New York City. I don't get the appeal of Ashley T.
The Hills have eyes for Audrina but Hyde doesn’t. JULIUS, Gatekeeper to one of the most exclusive clubs in the world, politely tells AP its not gonna happen. I still love you Audrina!

Busy bohemian blonde bombshell beauty Mary-Kate Olsen on the cover of Nylon magazine looking so very hot. I say busy because this one is truly doing it all. Mary-Kate and her sister Ashley have a high-end clothing line called THE ROW in which they oversee every aspect of the line. I have to say I really like it. MK is also currently working on her new movie The Wackness directed by Jonathan Levine and also starring Sir. Ben Kingsly… I suggest picking this issue up.
Last weekend Colin Branca and I tried catching Beowolf at three SOLD OUT theaters before settling on a 2-D showing at the Grove. A week later I still wanted to see it but this time as in its IMAX 3D Experience glory. So I asked my good friend Pierre Baltadano if he wanted to go watch it at the Universal Studio's CityWalk IMAX; it was so much better in 3D. Don’t be an idiot. Go see Beowulf. See it on the biggest flippin’ 3D screen you can find. It has the thrills for both the action/fantasy fan and the cinéaste trying to follow modern progressions in filmmaking. This is filming future and on a beastly IMAX screen it feels like you are in the same world as the characters.
Alright, so we are all guilty. We spend vasts amounts of hours checking out blogs, perusing through celebrity gossip magazines, and sitting in front of numerous screens just keep up with the latest happenings.
But, have you ever wondered where this seemingly unfulfilled urge to keep tabs on the Hollywood entertainers comes from?
Well, according to Columbia Sociology Professor Duncan J. Watts, who conducted a study on more than 14,000 individuals, "Most people almost never make decisions independently — in part because the world abounds with so many choices that we have little hope of ever finding what we want on our own; in part because we are never really sure what we want anyway; and in part because what we often want is not so much to experience the "best" of everything as it is to experience the same things as other people and thereby also experience the benefits of sharing." Could it be that our obsession has to with our innate need to connect? And if so, are our continuous judgments of others only a way to relate to someone who may be much more rich and/or famous than we are?
