So Shannon Woodward and I hit up a P.S. Arts event on Thursday. P.S. Arts is a great charity that is restoring the arts to public education. I'm trying to help the kids one vodka-soda at a time. Ok, Ok, 2 or 3 at a time. Hey! Don't judge me! It's for the kids.
I'm so turned on by the cover of GQ UK with Charlize Theron. I have a Charlize story. When I was in film school a few years back I was eating at 101 Coffee Shop with a bunch of buddies from school discussing our next project. Then we noticed the waiters pushing all the tables together. First in walks an older woman that sat right across from us and then took notice of our small group and asked what we were doing. We said we were film students working on a film. She says, "My daughter was in a film that premiers tonight, we're all meeting here to eat". Few moments later, in walks Charlize Theron and her movie that premiered that night was Monsterwhich she won an Oscar for. I peed my pants a little that night. A little was for her, a little for Stuart Townsend. Oops, too dirty?
Zooey Deschanel isn't my favorite actress so it always suprises me when I see her working as an actress. How does one go from TNT's Tin Man to starring in M.Night Shyamalan's The Happening. So I guess it is fitting to have Zooey on the cover of Lucky Magazine's July 2008 issue. Your welcome!

First the carjacking and now a car accident. Not cute! This happened Sunday evening on June 8th. I'm still not sure what happened, but from what I've been told, the other driver was at fault. My friend Thomas was driving and I have little to no memory of the crash or that night. We both managed to walk away without broken bones. So go us!
GINA is a concept vehicle from BMW that is so peculiar to me and amazing because it takes a different look at adaptability and modularity through the use of shape-shifting fabric. Instead of using traditional materials like steel, aluminium, or the rarer materials of carbon fiber, BMW created GINA, an acronym for Geometry and functions In 'N' Adaptions (the N standing for infinite) with a lycra fabric skin coated with polyurethane. This skin is supported by a moveable metal frame that gives the driver power to change their cars shape based on driving needs. For instance, if you want more high-speed stability the car could widen and grow a larger spoiler. Even the interior can move to allow for the occupants to get in and out easily. Of course, this car is almost impossible to build for today's world but I like where BMW is going with this concept. Whatever people may say about their new design languages (I really like them), BMW always seems to be innovating and thinking unconventionally. With GINA, BMW has taken something as wild as a concept and taken it further and I love it. But the name...could they have picked a name that doesn't sound like vaGINA? Cause that is what some kids call that body part?
It's a funny thing when one of your best friends becomes famous. It's like they get swooped up by a tornado frenzy. And Katy is a worker bee. She will work, work, work. Point being, the Bronx one night then the Hamptons less then 24 hours later for an album release party. A Steve Madden store opening, a slew of interviews, TRL, and the last call I got from the working girl was that she's on a flight to Canada. Gogogo. Also slated to come out in July will be the Blackberry 9000, or the Bold. The Blackberry Bold will be sold exclusively by AT&T for a few months and will most prominently feature 3G and a new User Interface (UI). As I blogged about in March, this Blackberry is the first phone that's made me wanna ditch my iPhone because the exterior is pretty slick and the UI looks fresh.
BLACKBERRY THUNDER 9500
For the Verizon kids, Blackberry maker RIM, should be announcing the yet to be named Blackberry 9500, though the name Thunder is going around. This device is slated to be released in the 3 Quarter of the year and will feature a touchscreen. I know touchscreens look slick but I heard that Blackberry wasn't into making them because physical keys made better sense to them, so it's an interesting about face.
As early as around 1:30 PM yesterday, the first person lined up for Apple, Inc. CEO Steve Jobs' Keynote address that went on today at 10:00 AM.
There were announcements and demos regarding the iPhone Applications Store and the many developers that have een working on new programs that will be available for download soon. Games were demo'd along with new apps that tap into "new" location finding features in the iPhone and some other more boring apps showed up too. Boring to non-nerds.
There was also an announcement for a new Apple service called mobileme, which is replacing their .mac service. This new service is sync-crazy! Photos, files, mail, contacts, calenders, etc. are capable of push, or instant, updating, meaning that all your devices will be on the same page; the lappy, the iPhone, and the home computer. As Apple stated, it's "Exchange for the rest of us." All existing .mac users can transition over for free and others will pay the same as .mac, $99.00 a year (if you are getting a computer, consider buying mobileme then cause its cheaper that way). Still boring for most non-nerds I guess.
New iPhone! This time, it is a bit thinner, slightly curvier, almost-Wi-Fi fast, better battery life, GPS. AND, it's cheaper...$199 cheap for the 8GB version - the first 8GB iPhone was $599 and then $399.00! The 16GB model will also come in white and retail for $299.00. The bummer for me...no 32GB capacity, same camera without flash, and no front facing camera for video chatting (it's shown up in the patents so we should see it at some point). The iPhone 3G will be available July 11, throughout 22 countries.
The British tabloids are having a field day with Grammy winner Amy Winehouse's new video where she is singing the children's classic rhyme "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." Don't say "I dare you" to Andrew Garfield because Shannon and I did dare Andrew to jump into the pool at the Roosevelt Hotel and he did. I regret not doing the same. That was soooo hero style.
